This instrument is used to teach percussion in Indonesia. The half coconut body is topped with a highly polished Sono wood lid. The felt tipped beater is used to hit the lid to create a rich note closer to a tong drum. The hole to the sound chamber can also be covered with the hand to change the tone of the drum.
